Gabriel was two months old this week. He has made his mommy very happy the past two nights by sleeping for 9 hours straight. Now if only we could get him to take longer naps during the day. Here are his two-month pictures:

And here are the monkey pictures…

Tired of picture taking...

REALLY tired of picture taking
And these pictures were taken the next day when he was in a little better mood.

Gabriel is two months old today and to celebrate, we went to the doctor and got three shots!
His checkup went really well. He weights 12.5lbs (75th percentile), is 24.5 inches long (90th percentile) and his head circumference is 39.6 centimeters (50th percentile). The doctor said everything looks great and he is definitely thriving. When the nurses gave him the shots they warned us that we would hear him make a cry like we had not heard before and they were definitely right. It was heartbreaking but only lasted for a few seconds.
He slept for a little while after we got home and then woke up crying. I can tell he is in pain because he wants to be held constantly and will cry if we put him down for a few seconds. I got him some infant tylenol so hopefully that will make him feel better and he can still get a goodnight’s sleep. He is happy when his is nursing or in my moby wrap but I don’t think I can keep that up all night long.
Here are some pictures from the Doctor’s office:

Waiting for the doctor...

Still waiting....

Just got the shots and not too happy about it.

Daddy can always make him smile!

Thumbs up for vaccinations!

It’s hard to believe how much Gabriel has grown in his almost 2 months of life. I was looking back through pictures and it made me realize just how big he’s gotten.
Four days old

Eight Weeks Old

Gabriel has started grabbing onto things – Especially my shirt and hair while I’m nursing him. Maybe it’s time to get one of those “mom” haircuts I’ve heard about…

It would appear that on March 27th, we not only got a baby; we also got a superhero! (You should turn your computer screen upside-down in order to get the full effect.)

Gabriel loves getting his diaper changed. He is at his happiest when he is completely naked. Luckily, we have not had any “accidents” so I usually give him a few minutes to kick his legs around diaper-free.

It’s been awhile since we’ve done a blog post so here are some random pictures of the guy you all have been waiting to see:

Gabriel in his swing. Sometimes he falls asleep in it but not if I put him in it when he is already cranky.

It was really warm here a couple days last week so I let Gabriel take a nap in just his diaper.

I got Gabriel a Bumbo seat at a garage sale this week. He likes it ok, but I think he is still getting used to the idea of being bent at the waist (in a sitting position).

Grandpa Finke came to visit on Monday. Gabriel and I had a mom and baby class though, so we didn't get to visit for very long.

Gabriel smiles all the time now. Sometimes I'll just be holding him while doing something else and I'll look down at him and he'll just be smiling up at me. He's also started laughing a little bit. It's pretty high pitched and kind of girly but so darn cute.

Unfortunately, he is not always happy. But he usually doesn't cry for long. Overall, I'd say he's a happy baby.
Another thing Gabriel has started doing is putting his hands in his mouth. Consequently, he has also started gagging himself with his thumb. He always looks kind of stunned when it happens – like he can’t figure out what’s making his eyes water.

Gabriel is seven weeks old today.
We have been very busy this past week. My mom and sister had a garage sale at our house Wednesday through Saturday. Gabriel and I went to a mom and baby group that meets at the hospital. We watched Bennett at our house on Monday and Thursday – It was fun to see what things Gabriel might be doing in a couple months. And today we met with the Pastor in Mayer about Baptism.
This is what Gabriel did when I told him he is seven weeks old today:

He has also been laughing and cooing a lot more, especially when I take his diaper off. I’m not sure if I should laugh or be worried…

I had a great first Mother’s Day. Chris came back from California at around 8 in the morning, so that was a great present. Then we went to church with my mom and dad in Mayer. After that, we met my sister Laura and her husband Chris at Red Lobster for a late lunch or early dinner, I’m not sure which. My mom and I shared some kind of frozen fruit drink which was my first alcoholic drink since getting pregnant. Here are some pictures from the day:

I just got a new baby carrier so I can wear Gabriel around the house and still get things done. It’s called a Moby Wrap and so far we really like it. Once I start walking around in it, Gabriel always falls right to sleep. It took me a few tries to get the hang of tying it but now I can get him situated in it in under a minute.
